Chicken Meat Pie



This  recipe was made in honor of Nigerian Independence, Happy 53th Birthday!!! Nigerian is the land of Suya, the land of garri and soup, the land were they teach you to work hard and play smart. The land were all things are possible as long as you have connections. I salute you!!! I am proud to be a Nigerian. Being Nigerian has made me who I am today, it has taught me a thing or two about culture, dedication and motivation.  Today's recipe is motivated by the beautiful Nigerian culture. I grew up eating this snack and as an adult I still enjoy this beautiful snack. Ingredient

6 chicken thighs
3 1/2 cubs of flour
2 1/2 scoops of butter 
1 1/2 tsp of salt (1 tsp for the chicken and 1/2 for the dough)
1 tsp of Curry
1 tsp of Red pepper
1 Potatoes
1 Sweet potatoes
Small bowel of water for sealing
1/2 cold water
1 egg


What to do

Gather your Ingredients


Step 1: Cook your chicken for about 20 mins or until soft  (Using salt, curry and pepper)

Step 2: While the chicken is cooking, start making your dough (Put flour in a bowl, add salt, butter)


Step 3: Work butter with your fingers until it starts looking like bread crumbs

Step 4: Add cold water in small increments and work the flour until it molds together
The end result should look like this, cover with napkin and set aside


Step 6: Cut up your potatoes and boil until soft
Step 7: Your chicken should be done by now, cut up into small pieces



Step 8: Check the potatoes, if done mash up with a spoon (leave little chucks) 
Step 9: Add the mash up potatoes to the chicken, mix together and set aside
using sweet potatoes gives it a sweet taste and you can taste your mix to see if it needs additional salt or pepper

Step 10: Divide the dough into four parts and use a rolling pin to knead

Step 11: Knead into circles

Step 12: Add a spoonful of the chicken mix to the center of the dough


Step 13:  Dip your finger in water and swipe around bottom half of the dough ( it helps in sealing the dough)
Step 14: Fold dough over
Step 15: Use a fork to seal and for decoration ( you really don't need to do this)




Step 16: Repeat step 11-15, you can make it in different shapes

Step 17: Grease your baking pan with leftover butter and sprinkle with flour. Then put unbaked pie in a baking pan, (sorry no picture). Pre-heat over to 350 degrees

Step 18: Using a baking brush or your fingers, brush eggs over the chicken pie

Step 19: Bake your chicken pie for 30 mins or until golden


Step 20: Once done, transfer into a place to cool
Serve and enjoy
